In Their Words

It's time to take a break from serious posts, and posts with recipes (although I will share more good eats with you as I discover them!), and have a few moments of childish fun. Fun with thoughts from my kids, that's is, and what they've said over the past month. I have an arsenal right now, and it's time to unload!

First up, my dear Jacob:

"Mom, I'd like to see the day when Andrew will listen to reason. I mean, really, I hope I'm home for it!"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jacob: "If there's one thing I don't understand, it's why people smoke. "
Me: "Well, some people like the taste of it. Some people just do it because they have done it for so long that they can't stop."
Jacob: "The taste! It just tastes like tobacco rolled up in paper! Who would like that?"
I hope he keeps that mentality in his teens!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One day I took Jacob to buy something with a gift card he had gotten for Christmas. He picked out a Hot Wheels apparatus. When we were done shopping, we drove to Andrew's preschool to pick him up. When Andrew got into the car, he took one look at Jake's new toy and said, "Oh Jacob! That's cool! I wub it!"
"Oh, Andrew," Jacob said with extremely faked sincerity, "I'm sorry. You have to be four or older to play with this toy."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We were getting ready to visit friends one evening. The friends have several children, one of whom Jacob does not really get along with. When I told him that the little girl would be there, he said, "Oh, well, in that case, I better get my ninja suit, in case **** starts her old tricks!"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One day when I picked Jacob up at school, he mentioned that he lost a tee (it's part of a discipline system that the teacher has. She's an avid golfer). I asked him why he lost a tee, and he said that he had not been paying attention in class. Instead, he was working ahead, going too fast and making careless mistakes. I told him that I thought he could improve that easily, by just paying attention and staying with the class. "Yeah, but Mom, the work is too easy for me. I was hoping for second grade stuff, not first grade!" Sometimes he's too smart for his own good!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One day after school, my niece and Jacob were talking about Jacob's teacher. Brooke called her a "mean, mean, kid hating machine!" Jacob, very diplomatically said, "well, Brooke, I wouldn't go that far. I would just say that she's very strict." Yeah, Jake, way to stick up for your old teach!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jacob just started taking ice skating lessons, so that he knows enough to be able to attend birthday parties, etc. My niece, Kiersten, has been taking lessons for a while now. The first night of lessons, my sister-in-law drove us in. On the way home, Kiersten mentioned that she would like to be a figure skater. I told her she could go to the Olympics. In retort, Monique told Jacob that he could play for the Penguins. I said, "Yes, Jake! You could play for the Penguins and make a lot of money!" Jacob replied, "yeah, and lose a lot of teeth!" Smart kid. Good point.

And now, on to Mr. Andrew:

A few weekends ago, I took Andrew to the grocery store. He belted out, at the top of his lungs, "Let the midnight special, shine a light on me! Let the midnight special, shine the ever living light on me!" How many toddlers do you know who have CCR songs memorized?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Speaking of songs, he now loves to sing R.O.C.K In The U.S.A, but with his lisp, it comes out, "R.O. Thee. K in the U. Eth. Thafe."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One day, Andrew came up to me and said, "Caleb said my daddy a poopy butt. Daddy say I kick Caleb's ass." (read that with the lisp and it's funnier) And at the word "ass," he showed me a nice kicking motion. Greg, in the meanwhile, was literally rolling on the floor laughing. Thanks, Greg! Nice one!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Andrew calls his motorcycle a "motor fuckel." We're working on annunciation.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I gave Andrew yogurt the other day. He calls it "fogurt," which is cute enough. As he carried the yogurt to the table, he sang, "I like it! I love it! I want some more of it!"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Getting out of the car yesterday, Andrew said, "Mom. I cute. Miss Sarah say so." Aw. Yes he is cute, and on that note, I will leave you all!

Have a great weekend!
