Having a husband who works like crazy - crazy hours, crazy days, crazy places - makes me appreciate one of the simplest things there is: family time. We don't get much time together as a family, but what time we do have, we try to make the best of. This morning, we were all up extra early, thanks to the time change. Jacob and I went to 830 mass, which left a good chunk of time for activities before Andrew's nap. We decided to head out to the Spring Dam and feed the fish.
It's a good thing we went out there, because apparently no one in Roaring Spring feeds the fish or the ducks once the weather gets cold! In the summer, if you go out to the Spring Dam, the fish will eat everything you have, but the ducks could really care less about you. Today, the ducks mobbed us! They couldn't get enough of our Cheerios. They even ate out of Greg's hands! As we walked around the dam, they followed us in hoards! The poor creatures. Those of you living out that way should be ashamed of yourselves for letting your web footed friends to become so famished...especially those of you who live practically across the street (you know who you are!).
Seriously, we had a nice time. Andrew enjoyed feeding the fish and the ducks, and only had a minor meltdown towards the end of our visit, when his repeated efforts to pet the ducks were not rewarded. Oh, and he only tried to jump in a handful of times, too. We stopped by for a short visit with a friend, and then had pizza for lunch. All in all, I call that a successful outing!
Here's a cheer for family time, and for saving starving wildlife! :)
